Planning Board will meet on April 15, 2024

Notice is hereby given that the Southern Shores Planning Board will meet on April 15, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. in the Pitts Center located at 5377 N. Virginia Dare Trl. The purpose of the meeting is for the Board to reconsider ZTA-23-03, a Zoning Text Amendment application submitted by the Town of Southern Shores to amend Town Code Sections 30-2, 30-124, 36-57, 36-202(d)(2), 36-203(d)(2), 36-204(d)(2), 36-205(d)(2), and 36-206(d)(2) to amend the Town’s current lot width requirements by adding the definition of lot width line, restating the definition of yard, amending the requirements for preliminary plats, amending the definition of building setback line, amending the definition of lot width, and by establishing new a new measuring point for lot width. The Board will also consider ZTA-24-03, a Zoning Text Amendment application submitted by the Town of Southern Shores to amend Town Code Section 36-163(1)a. by amending the parking space width requirement for all uses other than single-family residential homes, adding section 36-163(4)f. by adding a reduction of required parking spaces for planting trees, amending Section 36-57 by restating the definition of substantial improvement, adding Section 36-179 to establish commercial design standards, and amending Section 36-299(c) to establish that improvements shown on site plans must meet the requirements established in Section 36-179.
