The Town Clerk is a Town employee appointed as Clerk by the Council and serves as the custodian of the official records of meetings, resolutions, Town Code, and all administrative actions. The Town Clerk also is responsible for preparing meeting agendas. In Southern Shores the Town Clerk also serves as Cemetery Administrator.
Minutes of Council meetings are available on the website under “Meeting Agendas and Minutes” and are also available for public inspection in the Office of Town Clerk.
Sheila Kane, Town Clerk, has been with the Town since 2008 and appointed Town Clerk in 2013. Besides her Town Clerk duties she administers the Town’s cemetery and assists the Town Manager. She is a member of the North Carolina Association of Municipal Clerks and the International Institute of Municipal Clerks.
